Domenico Natale

The author has gained over thirty years of experience in a leading Italian company in the IT field, with particular attention to software production methodologies and metrics, particularly related to quality and Function Points.

In 2000 he created the first version of the Mondomatica website. The first version of the website was conceived in order to share online some basic concepts of the world of IT with colleagues, experts and curious people attracted by this technology. Initially focused on landscape photographs (Gallery) and historical aspects of IT (Museum), the website has expanded over the years, collecting experiences, curiosities, statistics, standards, professional orientations of the sector.

The Mondomatica website has followed the rapid evolution of IT technology, contributing to the diffusion of computer culture themes while it itself was merging with the world of communication, television, the Internet, social media, etc.

Until 2012, the original layout was the one published in 2001 by "Sole 24 Ore" in the section of the newspaper dedicated to Information Technology:

In 2013 the site was renewed with new looks, highlighting some new features and maintaining links to previous content where possible. Since 2017 the topics on ISO standards have been expanded starting from Mondomatica, making it necessary to develop a new site dedicated to the product quality standards of the 25000 series, which has now become isoiec25000.it

Since 2020, new "Social Themes" of the moment have been reported in Mondomatica, including Resilience, Smart City, Smart Land and aspects of the Pandemic, currently neglected as they have been widely explored elsewhere on the web.

In 2025 the site updated its look again.

In fact, some knowledge that was reported in the first site in Mondomatica came from the book published in 1995 by FrancoAngeli, in which the author addressed, among the first in Italy, the issues of quality and measurement of the functional dimensions of software.
